Strong and Compact
Penn has set the bar to a new height. With all the great features: Sealed body and spool… 30lb of drag. Great knob to grab hold of. The only small drawl back is weight. Such a small sacrifice to make.

Slammer III 4500 Compared to Slammer 460
I have had two Slammer 460's for several years for surf fishing and near offshore. Since I just purchase the Slammer III 4500's I cannot compare fishing experiences but I can tell you what I noticed just out of the box. Slammer III is much lighter and has better balance on a 10 foot surf rod. The Slammer III is a much tighter reel. I can feel that the gear mesh is going to need some break-in time but once that time has passed I believe the III will be smoother than its older brother. The drag can go much heavier with the III being advertised in the 30# range. Finally, I did open the case to look at the water seal and I'm pleased to see what should be a very water resistant case. All-Tackle had the only reduced price for this real that I could find. All other vendors that I shopped at were asking MSRP or higher. Thanks All-Tackle.
