Hooker Electric’s Two Piece Standard Harpoon measures 8.3 feet long (100 inches) weighing 8 lbs while the longer one measures 10.3 feet long (243 inches) assembled and weighs 10 lbs. Both can be stored in a boat mounted gunwale rod holder. Includes harpoon carry case with fabric handles and two Velcro bands to secure content. The 1″ or 1.125″ Diameter handle is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and features a rough grip to aid in handling. The handle on this model features a Mil-A-8625 Type 3 hard coat anodized finish, the same finish used in the firearms industry to protect the base material from abrasions. Every part that is matted and attached to the handle is equipped with durable environment and wear resistant o-rings to prevent water intrusion into the harpoon handle.
The 7/16″ diameter dart shaft is made from marine grade 316 stainless steel measuring 18″ long. We use a larger diameter dart shaft than other harpoons on the market because 3/8 diameter dart shafts are prone to bending and breaking from the force of the dart penetrating into game fish.
The dart shaft features a harpoon dart retention system, which keeps the harpoon dart from inadvertently sliding off the dart shaft if you experience slack in the harpoon dart line. The system includes wear and environmental resistant o-rings, and a specially machined dart shaft. As the harpoon dart slips onto the dart shaft, the o-rings on the shaft engage the internal bore in the harpoon dart. The connection is secure enough to prevent premature release of the dart and lucid enough to allow detachment of the dart from the shaft after the dart has entered the game fish.
The harpoon comes rigged with a traditional 2 pound bronze harpoon tuna dart. Our darts are preconfigured with 4.5 feet of 1700 lb test vinyl coated stainless steel cable with Nicopress crimps. The end cap is made from marine grade 316 stainless steel. Features a stainless steel eye bolt to attach a retrieval line so you can pull the harpoon handle back to the boat after impaling a fish.
