To achieve this dropback, the angler simply pulls the halyard until the clip hits the top outrigger eye/pulley, where it releases, and the fishing line falls free. The QDX release clip has fully adjustable release tension and will open on its own when a fish strikes.
Simply pull the outrigger halyard until the QDX hits the top outrigger eye. This causes the QDX to open, and releases the fishing line. RMR is ideal for slow trolling live bait. Since you can release the fishing line prior to hook set, you won’t have any slack line to contend with. The RMR feature also works great when you want to drop a bait back to a fish, or if you want to clear your outrigger lines when there is a fish on.
The QDX Outrigger Release Clip is perfect for trolling live or dead bait and lure combinations. (RMR) Remote Manual Release technology - makes the QDX unique by allowing you to manually release the shing line from the clip by pulling the halyard to the top, causing the release arm to open. (See Photo below left) Example... say you’re trolling live bait from your outrigger and you get a strike, allow time for the sh to get the bait in it’s mouth prior to setting the hook. During this time - use the QDX’s RMR to release the shing line from the clip. This eliminates the slack line and ensures a proper hook set. All other relase clips require the weight of the sh to exceed the tension setting of the clip, before the shing line is released. This means, at the precise moment you need tight line to set the hook - you have slack line created when the line is released from the clip. Many a sh have won their freedom during this brief moment. The QDX’s RMR completely eliminates the slack line.
